Parkland Publishing is based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. It was started in 1998 by Robin and Arlene Karpan. Parkland Publishing's latest book Northern Saskatchewan Canoe Country takes you on a visual journey along the north's most spectacular rivers and lakes. The hardcover coffee-table book features 230 stunning images of the northern wilderness, complemented by stories on the rich history, the tremendous diversity of landscapes, and the Karpans' personal experiences in canoeing and travelling the north. The book won the Tourism Media Award for Travel Journalism in the Saskatchewan Tourism Awards of Excellence, March 23, 2009. The first photographic book was Northern Sandscapes - Exploring Saskatchewan's Athabasca Sand Dunes featuring one of Canada's most unusual natural areas. The Athabasca Sand Dunes are the largest major dunes in Canada, on the southern shore of Lake Athabasca in northwest Saskatchewan. The book received the 1998 Souvenir of the Year Award in the Saskatchewan Tourism Awards of Excellence. Saskatchewan Trails - A Guide to Nature Walks and Easy Hikes 2nd Edition was released in April, 2001, and profiles over 100 nature trails throughout the province. The 1st Edition received both the Souvenir of the Year Award, and the New Tourism Idea Award at the 1999 Saskatchewan Tourism Awards of Excellence. Saskatchewan Trivia Challenge features over 240 intriguing questions and answers on important and frivolous tidbits of information on Saskatchewan. Recipient of Souvenir of the Year Award, 2000 Saskatchewan Tourism Awards of Excellence. Saskatchewan Scenic Secrets was released in April, 2001. The hardcover book takes you on a visual journey with 145 stunning color photographs of natural landscapes of Saskatchewan, from the deep south to the far north.
